Congress passed the Therapeutic Shoe Bill, which allows individuals with diabetes to receive Medicare- or insurance-covered diabetic footwear each calendar year. If you qualify, you may be eligible for:

• One pair of custom-molded shoes and inserts

• One pair of extra-depth shoes

• Two additional pairs of inserts per year (if receiving custom-molded shoes)

• Three pairs of inserts per year (if receiving extra-depth shoes)

• Shoe modifications (such as lifts, wedges, or rocker soles), often covered instead of inserts
